Engineering services

Our engineering teams work to current codes and standards, with in-house design, drafting and detailing. We support owners, EPC contractors and consultants with complete packages or extra capacity for their own teams.

Process & chemical

Process design and simulation, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, heat and material balances and equipment sizing, using HYSYS, PRO II and HTRI.

Civil, structural & architecture

Foundations, steel and concrete structures, pipe racks and plant buildings, using STAAD Pro and Tekla.

Mechanical: piping, equipment & HVAC

• Piping layout and 3D modelling (Smart Plant 3D, E3D, PDMS, PDS)
• Piping stress analysis (CAESAR II, AutoPIPE)
• Static and rotating equipment design and specification (PV Elite)
• HVAC design and load calculations (CHVAC, HAP)

Electrical

Power distribution, load and short-circuit studies, cable sizing and system design, using ETAP.

Instrumentation & telecom

Instrument design, control systems, data sheets and telecom systems, using SmartPlant Instrumentation (INtools).

Project engineering & management

Interface management, document control, engineering schedules in Primavera P6, and EPCM support.

Pipelines

Route studies, detailed feasibility reports (DFR), basic and detailed engineering, road, rail and river crossings including horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and station piping for cross-country and subsea pipelines.

Structural and offshore engineering

Analysis and design for onshore and offshore facilities:

• Fixed platforms: in-service and pre-service analysis; dynamic, fatigue, collapse, pushover and mating analysis; floatation, upending and on-bottom studies; cathodic protection design.
• FPSO and MOPU: in-service and pre-service analysis of modules, topside and hull engineering support, and local equipment rooms.
• Onshore plants: plot plans and site grading, static and dynamic analysis of RCC and steel structures, welded and bolted connections, revamps and brownfield modifications.
• Power and water: main plant buildings and pipe racks, pump houses, silos and tanks, conveyor galleries and transfer towers, and seismic and FEA design of water-retaining structures.

Process safety and risk studies

Safety studies done late cause redesign, delay and change orders. We run them at the right stage and track every action to close-out, so findings are built into the design rather than added on.

• HAZOP, HAZID, what-if and bow-tie analysis
• Inherently safer design reviews
• Quantitative risk assessment (QRA), dispersion analysis and fire and explosion risk assessment
• HIRA for construction and operations, and project risk management

Digital engineering, codes and standards

We produce intelligent P&IDs, 3D plant models and laser-scan-based models for brownfield modifications, using Smart Plant 3D, E3D / PDMS, PDS, SmartPlant P&ID, Navisworks, AutoCAD and MicroStation. Our engineers design to ASME, API 650 / 620 / 560, TEMA, NFPA, ASCE, BS / EN / Eurocode, DIN, IS, AWWA and PIP.

Engineering project experience

Our engineers have worked on refinery, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, offshore and power projects worldwide, including:

• Rabigh Phase II Petrochemicals, Saudi Arabia: MTBE / isobutylene and metathesis plants
• KNPC Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, Kuwait: acid gas removal plant revamp FEED
• Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit, Houston: detailed engineering for 500,000 t/y of propylene
• Kakinada–Dadri gas pipeline, India: DFR and basic engineering for 1,600 km
• Total Egina FPSO: hull and topside engineering
• Cairn India satellite oil fields: FEED for a quick production facility, with Energy Total as engineering contractor
